The Statue and Other Images in Egyptian Religion

What elements influence heat misfortune? Paper I have been approached to research the connection among shading and warmth misfortune. Does the silver or the dark cup lose its warmth quicker? Theory I believe that the silver cup will hold the warmth for a more extended timeframe than the dark cup, I think this in light of the fact that the dark cup will ingest the warmth, where as the silver cup will mirror the warmth once again into the cup making the dark cup chill off quicker than the silver cup. Foundation INFORMATION CONVECTION the high temp water in the two cups will have convection ebb and flow in them. The heated water will rise and sink as the water cools. This implies the warmth vitality is being given to the metal cup over the vast majority of its inward surface. CONDUCTION the metal cups will get more blazing because of the warmth vitality inside the cup. The water will give this warmth vitality because of the way that metal is a decent transmitter of warmth. The warmth vitality will be directed all through the metal cup to the external surface where it will be moved to the air around the cup as radiation. RADIATION hot items (I. e. the metal cup) produce mostly INFRARED radiation, and the more sizzling the article the more radiation it will emanate. We will compose a custom paper test on What components influence heat misfortune? explicitly for you for just $16.38 $13.9/page Request now We will compose a custom exposition test on What variables influence heat misfortune? explicitly for you FOR ONLY $16.38 $13.9/page Recruit Writer We will compose a custom exposition test on What components influence heat misfortune? explicitly for you FOR ONLY $16.38 $13.9/page Recruit Writer How much radiation the article transmits will rely upon the surface. The dark cup had a dim matt surface and subsequently will transmit more radiation. This will imply that the dark cup will lose more infrared radiation than the silver cup (which is a poor producer of infra-red radiation) and accordingly it will lose its warmth faster than the silver cup over a similar measure of time. Gear * Thermometer  Metal cups (silver and dark) Timer METHOD We began of with two cups one dark and the other silver. At that point we set up the gaps like the outline above. We at that point got bubbling water and emptied it similarly into each cup, at that point restored the cover. After the top was supplanted we recorded the temperature like clockwork. Wellbeing To guarantee extreme security during this test I need to consider a couple of wellbeing factors. The primary concern that I need to think about is the way that I need to utilize bubbling water to o this trial, this is extremely perilous whenever abused as it can truly consume and scar forever. The other wellbeing highlight additionally incorporates the bubbling water however for an alternate explanation. As we are utilizing the water close to a PC we must be mindful so as not to permit the water to interact with it, provided that it does it could break the PC or most noticeably terrible still it could start and damage one of us. Reasonable TEST I could ensure that a similar volume of water was filled each cup likewise ensure that the water filled the cups simultaneously was additionally at a similar temperature RESULTS Time (Minutes) Temperature (oc) silver cup Temperature (oc) dark cup. End of exercise Total drop in temp25 33 My outcomes give me that the dark cup lost the warmth quicker than the silver cup experimented number 2 I have chosen to rehash my trial utilizing a PC. This will make it progressively exact on the grounds that with the utilization of the PC it is 99. 9% exact and the is no hole for human blunder. Results 2 Elapsed Time Temperature 7 Analyzing As time expanded the temperature diminished, the dark cup diminished/lost warmth quicker than the silver cup. As time went on the dark cup was reliably retaining heat from the high temp water inside the dark cup, where as the silver cup reliably mirrored the warmth once more into the cup. This is on the grounds that the dark cup loses heat snappier than the silver since lighter surface don't lead heat just as darker surfaces. Assessing My unique theory was right I believe that the silver cup will hold the warmth for a more drawn out timeframe than the dark cup, I think this in light of the fact that the dark cup will retain the warmth, where as the silver cup will mirror the warmth once more into the cup making the dark cup chill off quicker than the silver cup.

Gender Differences Essay

Sexual twofold standard alludes to sex contrasts in sexual opportunity (Gentry, 1998). In 1960, Ira Reiss characterized conventional twofold standard as pre-marriage sex denial on ladies yet not on men (Milhausen and Herold, 1999). This social standard turned into the contingent twofold standard wherein females are just took into account sexual relationship inside marriage while guys are not precluded to bring about sexual relationship the greatest number possible (and Herold, 1999). As generalization, society for the most part overlooks certain sexual practices just for male yet considered as untouchable for females (Gentry, 1998). From the early chronicled time of the Western countries, the inconsistent treatment among people in regards to with sexual issues have been recorded (Haavio-Mannila and Kontula, 2003). Ladies were generally expected to safeguard virginity upon marriage and to stay away from sexual contact with any one much after legitimate partition or spouse passing (Haavio-Mannila and Kontula, 2003). This sexual imbalance direction turned into the conventional good gauges for both male and female gatherings yet with severe arrangements on ladies. Further, this imbalance, as indicated by Williams (1987), was come about because of the early origination that ladies are important property of men and an object of trade (Haavio-Mannila and Kontula, 2003). All things considered, continuing female worth requires virginity safeguarding. In association with this, the severe recognition of purity has been actualized inside a tribe for the counteraction of undesirable pregnancy, protection of family respect, and confirmation of legitimate social-class marriage (Haavio-Mannila and Kontula, 2003). After 1960s’ and 1970s’ many years of sexual conduct advancement, sexual twofold standard is regarded to be gone (Gentry, 1998). Despite the fact that contentions on this issue until this present are still in presence, most looks into neglected to give a solid ground to the nonstop presence of sexual twofold norm (Gentry, 1998). Notwithstanding this, sexual issues, for example, adolescent pregnancy, assault, wrongness of birth, pre-marriage relations, and even sexual-related infections like AIDS are ceaselessly seen regarding sex based sexual mentalities (Gentry, 1998). Truth be told, concentrates on the sexual practices for both male and female indicated the tirelessness and impacts of twofold standard for both genders (Milhausen and Herold, 1999). Writing Review During nineteenth century sexual contrasts has turned into the focal point of logical examination (Haavio-Mannila and Kontula, 2003). For example, Havelock Ellis rewarded women’s sexuality as shortcoming while the Kinsey time upheld the balance of sex (Haavio-Mannila and Kontula, 2003). In any case, Masters and Johnson demonstrated the likeness in sexual reaction among male and female (Haavio-Mannila and Kontula, 2003). Then, the rise of progressively equivalent open doors for both genders was credited to the financial turns of events (Haavio-Mannila and Kontula, 2003). Right now, equivalent instructive open doors for people have begun to be given. Besides, expanding financial abundance and riches have improved methods and styles of living (Haavio-Mannila and Kontula, 2003). This prepared towards sexual investigation, adjustment and upheaval (Haavio-Mannila and Kontula, 2003). Sex contrasts in sexual practices, in view of transformative brain research, are brought by human development. Sex contrasts are connected with propagation; to guarantee the endurance and unendingness of species, male life forms expected to impregnate numerous females as they can (Milhausen and Herold, 1999). Then again, as clarified by social learning hypothesis, since explicitly lenient ladies are shunned while men with various accomplices increased cultural fame, the general public was adapted to delimit sexual relationship of ladies into monogamous relationship while offering support to guys having numerous sexual illicit relationships (Milhausen and Herold, 1999). This idea offered path to the ascent of sexual content hypothesis that provided food clarification for the sexual personal conduct standards. As per this hypothesis, to live with the conventional content, men are utilized to have numerous sexual accomplices while ladies are only proposed for one-accomplice relationship (Milhausen and Herold, 1999). In any case, in the midst of these glaring contrasts, concentrates on twofold standard have created clashing outcomes. The distinctions in results for those examinations were attributed to the instruments and measures used by analysts in the direct of their investigation (Milhausen and Herold, 1999). In her investigation, Gentry (1998) neglected to give decisive discoveries on customary sexual twofold standard as per sex based view of her respondents. Likewise, the respondents’ discernment relied for the most part upon the target’s kind of relationship and sexual action. As steady with different investigations, respondents gave increasingly positive rating on the objective with beneath normal sexual movement and in monogamous relationship (Gentry, 1998). In any case, the female members evaluated a decisive and liberal lady likewise with more significant level of sexual action (Gentry, 1998). Then again, the level of confidence and sexual action were not fundamentally connected with the idea of liberal men (Gentry, 1998). Thusly, it was noticed that male and female members both utilized social and physical properties in their impression of an attractive individual (Gentry, 1998). By and large, male respondents depended on sex and sexual movement information in considering the character of male targets and arranged focuses with beneath normal sexual action as less engaging (Gentry, 1998). In any case, the discoveries of this investigation didn't mirror the recognizable sex inclination in the college where it was directed; the pathway towards female living arrangement lobbies was named as â€Å"walk of shame† which is a hint against female understudy who went through for the time being with male (Gentry, 1998). In 1982, Spreadbury announced that ladies respondents would in general rate the sexual conduct of ladies as more unbridled than men which signified their help towards twofold norm (Milhausen and Herold, 1999). Likewise, in 1987, with regards to the appraisal of the principal sexual experience of a speculative case, Sprecher, Orbuch, and McKinney uncovered that respondents gave negative more negative rate on female case than male case (Milhausen and Herold, 1999). Regarding inclinations for an accomplice, in 1995, O’ Sullivan uncovered that both male and female respondents less preferred for an exceptionally sex-experienced individual (Milhausen and Herold, 1999). In addition, in 1997, Sprecher, McKinney, and Regan demonstrated that both male and female respondents favored for a date with no sexual experience (Milhausen and Herold, 1999). In any case, in 1992, Sedikides announced male respondents very much wanted explicitly experienced ladies for easygoing date (Milhausen and Herold, 1999). This male inclination for easygoing date mirrored the twofold standard among male members. Corresponding to this, in 1992, Oliver and Sedikides contemplated out that male respondents pick ladies with increasingly sexual experience as easygoing dates to pick up sex experience however very much wanted ladies without sex understanding as their marriage accomplices (Milhausen and Herold, 1999). This is again a sign of a twofold norm. In a similar way, as clarified by Sprecher, Orbuch, and McKinney in 1991, the refusal of female respondents with exceptionally sex-experienced men in any relationship, suggested turned around twofold norm (Milhausen and Herold, 1999). In their investigation among college ladies in Canada, Milhausen and Herold (1999) found that understudies are by and by against twofold standard regardless of whether women’s conduct was considered cruelly than men (Milhausen and Herold, 1999). They likewise preferred for the significance of sex, in this manner, dismissing one idea of twofold norm (Milhausen and Herold, 1999). Likewise, the respondents gave negative rating for both male and female with more sex understanding (Milhausen and Herold, 1999). All things considered, they saw men with various sexual accomplices as exploitative, sexual stalkers, and manipulative (Milhausen and Herold, 1999). They likewise saw that other ladies generally picked up analysis from other ladies than men because of their sexual conduct (Milhausen and Herold, 1999). Besides, the respondents impugned supporting either a female companion in dating with exceptionally sex-experienced man or even a male companion dating with profoundly sex-experienced lady (Milhausen and Herold, 1999). This meant the demoralization for twofold norm. Be that as it may, if the exceptionally sex-experienced man has other positive qualities, the respondents gave conceivable possibility of dating with that man (Milhausen and Herold, 1999). Character characteristics outweigh everything else in picking an accomplice as opposed to sexual experience (Milhausen and Herold, 1999). On the other hand, there were respondents that even within the sight of good character attributes in a sex-experienced man would in any case turn down the date (Milhausen and Herold, 1999). In accordance with this, ladies who had different sexual relations would in general pick men who additionally had numerous sexual illicit relationships (Milhausen and Herold, 1999). The test examination of Sheeran, Abrams, Spears, and Abraham in 1996, respondents saw that female ought to have lower number of sexual relationship than male (Crawford and Popp, 2003). Furthermore, as saw by both non-strict female and strict male, explicitly dynamic ladies are only sometimes watched (Crawford and Popp, 2003). In addition, members appraised ladies who have changed sexual accomplice for a few times in a year as more untrustworthy than men of a similar case (Crawford and Popp, 2003). Around the same time, Sprecher and Hatfield saw that male respondents implied a twofold standard for both male and female in easygoing dating however not for male and female in a pre-connect with or genuine dating stage (Crawford and Popp, 2003). Climate Change and National Security free essay sample

That same month, the UN Security Council—at the initiative of the UK government—held its first-ever debate on the potential impact of climate change on peace and security. In October 2007, the Nobel committee recognized this emerging threat to peace and security by awarding former vice president Al Gore and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change its peace prize. In November 2007, wo think tanks, the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) and the Center for a New American Security (CNAS), released another report on the issue, concluding from a range of possible scenarios of climate change that, â€Å"We already know enough to appreciate that the cascading consequences of unchecked climate change are to include a range of security problems that will have dire global consequences. †2 The new interest in climate change and national security has been a valuable warning about the potential security consequences of global warming, but the proposed solutions that accompanied recent efforts have emphasized broader climate policy rather than specific responses to security threats. This report sharpens the connections between climate change and national security and recommends specific policies to address the security consequences of climate change for the United States. In all areas of climate change policy, adaptation and mitigation (reducing greenhouse gas emissions) should be viewed as complements rather than competing alternatives—and the national security dimension is no exception. Some policies will be targeted at adaptation, most notably risk-reduction and preparedness policies at home and abroad. These could spare the United States the need to mobilize its military later to rescue people and to prevent regional disorder—and would ensure a more effective response if such mobilization was nonetheless necessary. Others will focus on mitigation, 2 CSIS/CNAS, The Age of Consequences: The Foreign Policy and National Security Implications of Global Climate Change, November 2007; available at http://www. cnas. org/climatechange. 2 which is almost universally accepted as an essential part of the response to climate change. Mitigation efforts will need to be international and involve deep changes in the world’s major economies, such as those of China and India. As a result, the processes of working together to craft and implement them provide opportunities to advance American security interests.

Social Diversity free essay sample

Even in the military, these individuals experience discrimination. Therefore, the â€Å"Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell† policy was put in place to protect gays and lesbians. Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered (LGBT) individuals are unique and have unique needs in terms of civil justice and equality. The LGBT population comprises a diverse community with health concerns, civil liberty needs and family planning anxieties. They must also deal with paranoia, isolation, depression, and others being homophobic due to their sexual orientation. The issues surrounding personal, family, and social acceptance of sexual orientation can place a significant burden on mental as well as physical health for those in the LGBT community. (Clarke, 2010). Some individuals go as far as contemplating suicide to actually completing suicide because they feel they are less worthy than people of heterosexuality. If these individuals were more accepted in society, more information would be attainable to increase programs to meet the unique needs in these communities. We will write a custom essay sample on Social Diversity or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page LGBT people must deal with prejudice and discrimination when trying to obtain health care in hospitals and certain religious-based clinics and hospitals. (Sember, 2006). In the LGBT community, sexually transmitted diseases are often more widespread than in communities where the LGBT population is lower. Currently in the United States, blood donation centers will not accept blood donated by gay and bisexual men. The same goes for men who have ever had even one sexual experience or contact with other men. Gay and bisexual men are excluded regardless of their individual sexual histories or HIV risk. Current policy establishes different standards for behaviors that pose similar (or greater) risk of HIV transmission; it has been criticized, as stigmatizing and discriminatory to gay and bisexual men. (HHS, 2012). Currently, the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is conducting studies to examine the policy banning gay and bisexual men from donating blood. HHS(2012) has stated, â€Å"When these studies are complete, the Department is committed to a full evidence-based evaluation of the policy. If the data indicate that a change is possible while protecting the blood supply, we will consider a change to the policy. (HHS, 2012) Until these studies are complete, the HHS will not consider the remote chance that a gay or bisexual man can donate blood. Literature Review One issue of contention in the LGBT community is the issue of raising and/or adopting children. LGBT individuals and couples become parents in a variety of ways, including adoption, foster parenting, donor in semination, surrogacy, and having children from previous heterosexual relationships. The law governing family relationships varies significantly from state-to-state. (American Civil Liberties Union, 2012). Currently, in the United States, Utah, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Ohio, Kentucky, North Carolina, Mississippi, and Louisiana have laws where same sex couples are barred from doing joint and/or second parent adoptions. Nebraska, Utah, and Mississippi have laws barring same-sex couples from even being a foster parent. (American Civil Liberties Union, 2012). Being there is a lack of loving, stable foster homes in America, it would be beneficial to these states to allow LGBT couples or individuals to foster children and provide stable homes for these children. Some people believe that children of homosexual parents are at greater risk for sexual abuse, pedophilia, or other mistreatments. Social scientists have been studying children raised by what society calls â€Å"normal† families and children raised by parents of the same sex for over twenty years. They have noticed there is no difference in the children’s behavior, affect, development, or relationships. What matter the most is whether they are in a loving, nurturing home with committed parents. (Lev, 2004). The American Academy of Pediatrics (2012) recognizes that a onsiderable body of professional literature provides evidence that children with parents who are homosexual can have the same advantages and the same expectations for health, adjustment, and development as can children whose parents are heterosexual. When one thinks of marriage, the first thing that comes to mind is a union between one man and one woman. Marriage in the United States is considered one of the most sacred unions one can enter into formally. LGBT couples are not afforded that same luxury in most states. Connecticut, the District of Columbia, Iowa, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Vermont, and Washington are the only states that recognize same sex marriages. California recognizes only those marriages conducted between May and November 2008. The states Supreme Court ruled in 2008 that laws prohibiting same-sex marriage violated the state constitution. That ruling was overturned later that year by Proposition 8, a ballot initiative that banned same-sex marriage. In February 2012, a federal appeals court ruled that Proposition 8 violated the U. S. Constitution. But same-sex couples cannot get married in California until appeals, which may go to the U. S. Supreme Court, have been exhausted. (American Civil Liberties Union, 2012). Studies conducted in several countries indicate that better-educated people are more likely to support the legalization of same-sex marriage than the less-educated, and younger people are more likely to support it than older generations. Additionally, polls indicate that people who personally know a gay person are more likely to support marriage than those who do not. The American Anthropological Association (2012) has been quoted as saying: â€Å"The results of more than a century of anthropological research on households, kinship relationships, and families, across cultures and through time, provide no support whatsoever for the view that either civilization or viable social orders depend upon marriage as an exclusively heterosexual institution. Rather, anthropological research supports the conclusion that a vast array of family types, including families built upon same-sex partnerships, can contribute to stable and humane societies. LGBT couples often move to states that are more open to gay and lesbian marriages. They move to states that are not as discriminatory towards their lifestyle choices and they can live in peace with their spouse. The Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) is a federal law that denies federal recognition of same-sex marriages and authorizes states to refuse to recognize same-sex marriages licensed in other states. DOMA was p assed out of the fear that a lawsuit in Hawaii would force that state to recognize same-sex marriages. Under the U. S. Constitutions Full Faith and Credit Clause (Article IV, Section 1), states are expected to recognize the public acts, records, and judicial proceedings of every other state. Therefore, Congress was alarmed at the prospect of a gay or lesbian couple being married in Hawaii and then going to another state and expecting that state to recognize them as legally married. In addition, Congress did not want to grant same-sex couples the same federal benefits that are given to heterosexual couples who are legally married. (Clifford, 2012). In states that do not allow marriage of LGBT couples, they are unable to draw Social Security benefits on a partner’s pension plan. Older LGBT couples are at a high risk of economic devastation due to an absence of Medicare benefits afforded to legalized partners. In some states, including those allowing same sex marriage employees offer benefits to domestic partners as well. (Rimmerman, 2000). Employers should strive to maintain equality in the burden of proof required from eligible beneficiaries of employer benefits for both enrollment and audit purposes. Documentation should not be required of partners if it is not required of spouses. Employers particularly concerned about fraud should consider documentation requirements holistically. The California Insurance Equality Act of 2004 requires that health insurance plans in that state treat spouses and domestic partners equally, not only mandating that employers providing spousal benefits must also provide partner benefits, but also precluding employers from asking for documentation for state-registered partners if not also asking for documentation for different-sex spouses. (AAA. 2012). LGBT couples face obstacles when obtaining healthcare for them or their spouses/partners. They often face financial, personal, and cultural barriers when attempting to access health care. This is another vicinity where the Defense of Marriage Act creates an obstacle for LGBT couples. The states that do not recognize domestic partnerships or same sex marriages do not provide employer-provided benefits to partners, therefore some couples are unable to receive health care. They must obtain health insurance elsewhere, often from the individual insurance market, which can be quite costly and put a burden on the couples financially. Transgendered individuals face an even greater obstacle when it comes to obtaining health care or insurance. (Makadon, 2007). It is difficult for them to qualify for health insurance benefits that will fully meet their unique health care needs. Most private and public insurance plans do not cover the cost associated with transitioning from one gender to another. This is quite costly due to the fact there is much work to do before the actual transitioning can take place. They must do psychiatric counseling and evaluations before they begin taking hormones or before they proceed with surgery. Sember, 2006). There is also discrimination at religious-based hospitals and clinics. In some of these places, they will refuse to treat LBGT individuals due to their religious beliefs, instead of medical necessity. Some hospitals go as far as not allowing domestic partners visitation and are left out of important medical decisions regarding their partner. (Clifford, 2012). Conclusion In summation , one can deduce the lifestyle choice of LGBT individuals is not an easy one. They face bullying, ridicule, and discrimination on a national level as well as a personal level. It is a constant battle to gain the freedom and rights that non-LGBT individuals get to enjoy. The United States still has a long way to go when it comes to LGBT rights; however, allowing marriages and domestic partnerships is just a first step toward a greater global recognition that LGBT rights really are core human rights. Secretary Hilary Clinton has stated: â€Å"I speak about this subject knowing that my own countrys record on human rights for gay people is far from perfect. Until 2003, it was still a crime in parts of our country. Many LGBT Americans have endured violence and harassment in their own lives, and for some, including many young people, bullying and exclusion are daily experiences. So we, like all nations, have more work to do to protect human rights at home. † (ACLU, 2012) It is the hope of many people that the Obama administration’s respect and leadership on human rights issues abroad indicates that the administration will fulfill promises made to bring human rights home. LGBT people are frequently discriminated against in hiring, firing, promotion and compensation decisions. Unjust discrimination against gay and effeminate men as well as lesbians and masculine women is common in the workplace. It is hard to prove discrimination in most cases, but most discrimination stems from people’s ignorance about LGBT individuals and couples. (ACLU, 2012). Most have a fear if they are seen conversing with gays and lesbians, they themselves will be assumed to be gay or lesbian as well. Youths in school face severe bullying for being who they are. While trying to deal with all the challenges of being a teenager, LGBT teens additionally have to deal with harassment, threats, and violence directed at them on a daily basis. They hear anti-gay slurs such as â€Å"homo†, â€Å"faggot† and â€Å"sissy† about 26 times a day or once every 14 minutes. Even more troubling, a study found that thirty-one percent of gay youth had been threatened or injured at school in the last year alone. (AAP, 2012). December 10 is International Human Rights Day. Perhaps spreading the word and educating people about the lifestyles of LGBT people will help people to understand they are human and have needs just like everyone else. Maybe then will people be more open and understanding and the violence, harassment, prejudice, and discrimination will drastically drop.

The Essay Literature Sample Is Essential When Preparing For the AP Exam

The Essay Literature Sample Is Essential When Preparing For the AP ExamThe AP essay literature sample, the AP English literature sample, the AP Math and statistics sample are all parts of the college entrance exam. These sample exams are the basis for what happens on the actual test day. They are not only for preparing students for their exam, but they can also be used for making sure that everything is perfect for the final exam. This is especially true when the students take the test at home in the evenings before it is due.The materials are usually very strict and must conform to certain specifications. For example, the questions that are printed are somewhat different from the questions that were there before, which should mean that the material is slightly changed as well. Because of this, these questions have to be presented in a certain way so that they will still meet the guidelines of the other sections. The fact that the student taking the literature essay sample needs to us e a lot of space and be concise while answering the questions is not just for appearance' sake. There are a lot of different requirements that come with writing an essay. A student taking the exam needs to be able to focus on the main points and make sure that the information is there. In addition, there is a lot of time required to write the actual exam. This is because there are different types of questions that will be asked during the course of the exam, but only a short amount of time to get it all written. In order to make sure that the students know what is required, the literature sample is created, so that everything can be looked at properly. If a student uses the literature essay sample, it is not only for academic purposes but also for safety. For one thing, many times it is allowed to go over the exams in its entirety before the actual exam, but this cannot be done in the home because it is considered cheating. This is why it is necessary to use a copy of the real exam to make sure that the student will know what to do, rather than taking the risk of doing something that is illegal. The idea behind using an essay is to focus on the main points of the essay. While the subject might be written about briefly, it is important to make sure that there is something written about that the reader has not already heard about. This will help to bring up new ideas and bring the essay to a conclusion that will satisfy the reader. It is also important to keep in mind that there will be general themes to the exam that are similar to previous exams. This will help the student to be familiar with the general structure of the entire test. The essay will need to follow a certain pattern, and knowing this will help to avoid long and tedious writing tasks. While the literature essay sample might seem like an unnecessary material, there are times when a teacher needs to present this material in order to make sure that the student's paper is in line with what the teacher req uires. By using a copy of the actual exam, the student will not only know what the real rules are, but they will also be familiar with the topic. This will help them to be able to present the material in a logical manner that is easy to understand, which will give the best results.

Racism in the US essays

Racism in the US essays Racism is described as the belief that race accounts for differences in human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others, or, discrimination or prejudice based on race. Racism is something that is present, and apparent throughout the world. Everywhere we look in the world, we can see racism create major social problems, and even send entire countries into war. Racism is an issue that, if untreated will create, and continue to create major social problems in the United States. Racism, in its major form, began in the United States in about 1618, when the first slaves were brought to the United States to work, unpaid, for their white owners. From the time the Africans were in the custody of Americans, they were not treated as humans, but as property. Slavery in the United States continued for many years, until 1862, when President Abraham Lincoln delivered his Emancipation Proclamation, freeing all slaves. This did not end the problem of racism against African Americans. After this time, the United States saw much hate, and many hate crimes against African Americans. This was apparent in the 1950s 19670s when desegregation was taking place in the United States. This hate was evident with in the KKK, and the many hate crimes and protests that took place in the United States. Even since then, with a completely desegregated society, the United States still sees an incredible amount of racism against blacks. African Americans are not the only group who experience racism in the United States. Almost every group in the United States that can be classified experiences racism in some form. Mexicans and Asians are often victims if hate crimes based on nothing other than race. Although African Americans, Asians, and Mexicans are among the most discriminated against in the United States, racism does not have to be based on race, but can be based on things such as social status or sexual preferen...

How to Select a College Admissions Counselor

In light of the recent admissions scandal, there’s a pervasive belief that using a college admissions counselor is the purview of the rich and famous. However, the truth is that it’s not just actors and actresses who are soliciting the services of counselors. On the contrary, a large percentage of parents from all social strata are hiring private college consultants to assist their children on the college journey. It’s hard to say exactly how many students use the services of college counselors each year. According to a survey conducted by marketing firm Lipman Hearne, 26 percent of students who scored in the 70th percentile or higher on the SAT admitted to using a private college counselor. However, it’s possible that this number is significantly higher, and some students simply don’t feel comfortable admitting seeking help. While dishonest companies like Edge College & Career Network, the business at the center of the admissions scandal, are the exception rather than the rule, it pays to do your homework when selecting a college admissions counselor. Read on to discover what types of admissions counselors are out there, along with questions to ask potential consultants. It’s not just the wealthy who can benefit from college education counselors. On the contrary, these experts help a wide array of high school students gain admission to their dream colleges. In particular, the services are beneficial to those with specific or niche passions, such as athletics or musical theater. Additionally, college counselors can help students identify lesser-known schools that have strong programs in their chosen majors. College counselors also provide valuable services to families of students with learning disabilities and other educational challenges. Along with ensuring students have the appropriate amount of time for SAT and ACT testing, consultants can work with you to identify schools that offer the best and most supportive programs for your teen’s needs and goals. Parents seeking college admissions support for their teens can generally choose between two different options: IECs and consulting firms. Also known as independent educational consultants, IECs help students throughout the application process. Along with supporting students in identifying the best reach, target, and safety schools, they offer information on financial aid and scholarships and provide feedback on admissions essays. In most cases, parents drop their teens off at a local IEC’s office to discuss college admissions questions one on one. This in-person support can help both students and parents feel more confident in the process. However, it’s worth noting that most independent educational consultants work with a very limited group of students with similar profiles. As a result, they might not have the up-to-date information needed to support teens from different backgrounds, races, ethnicities, and religions. Estimating your chance of getting into a college is not easy in today’s competitive environment. Thankfully, with our state-of-the-art software and data, we can analyze your academic and extracurricular profile and estimate your chances. Our profile analysis tool can also help you identify the improvement you need to make to enter your dream school. Additionally, independent educational consultants tend to operate with little oversight. Without state or federal agencies looking over their shoulders, some IECs have resorted to less-than-honest practices. This was the case earlier in the month when the U.S. Attorney in the District of Massachusetts brought federal charges against 50 individuals for taking part in a conspiracy to help high schoolers get into elite colleges around the nation. On the other hand, college consulting firms tend to work with a larger group of students, allowing them to utilize the latest data to support a wide range of students from diverse backgrounds. At , we’ve worked with over 10,000 students online, meaning location isn’t a factor in securing aid and we’ve seen a breadth of profiles and decisions. Along with solving college fit issues, firms support teens in selecting the best high school coursework, choosing extracurriculars, and revising their college essays. While IECs mostly work with students who are ready to send out applications, consulting firms, like , know the college journey begins as early as freshman year of high school. So where do you start when choosing an IEC or college consulting firm? The best admissions counselors have prior experience working with students of various backgrounds and profiles.   Because college counseling remains unregulated, students and parents have to do some of their own legwork when choosing a firm. Here are some important questions to ask before selecting a college admissions counselor: Make sure the answer is no to the following: If the answer to either of the last two questions is yes, this company is best avoided. Additionally, teens and their parents should stay away from any firm that offers an acceptance guarantee. The truth is that no reputable admissions counselor can promise to get a student into a particular school, and those who claim to do so may be using unfair, dishonest, or illegal tactics. At , we understand that not every student has access to private school admissions counselors who can walk them through the college application process. With that in mind, we created a program specifically to answer students’ questions about college admissions and help them build robust applicant portfolios. We’ve worked with over 10,000 students and are able to leverage data across all types of profiles and schools. You can meet with us from anywhere. We’re up to date on what is happening in admissions right now at hundreds of schools. We can help you understand your best fit colleges and how to maximize financial aid using data! Whether your goal is to determine which schools to target or boost financial aid, we can help you achieve your goals. Human resource developement Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words

Human resource developement - Assignment Example This paradigm shift in mode of recruitment constitutes internet recruitment where the job vacancies are posted online and interested candidates apply online. This system entails formatting application forms which should duly be filled by the potential recruits and they are directed regarding all the minimum requirements with mandatory sections to be filled. It is worth to note that the recruitment software system is developed in such a way that failure to fill some of the compulsory parts rejects submission of the application. Complete filling of the application is accompanied by uploading some required relevant credentials. The general benefit of adopting this technology is its efficiency and wide geographical coverage across the word for any potential applicant. This mode of recruitment fails to give the organizations the desired candidates in some cases due to lack of face-to-face interaction with the candidates to learn more personal attributes that include being presentable, oral communication techniques and professional mannerisms. The issue of personal touch with the recruits to learn some observable qualities that is significant in the performance of the organization is equally lost (Snell & Bohlander, 2013). It is also important to underline the growing cost of reviewing resumes of the employees due to the omissions and commissions experienced from online recruitment process. The performance of the employees is influence by the mode of recruitment that was used. It is important to note that the overall performance of the firm highly depend on the quality of human capital employed and its productivity (Snell & Bohlander, 2013). The perception of the employees in workplace is shaped by the environmental conditions that he/she experienced from the recruitment panel and the procedure of recruitment. The length of the recruitment procedure has significant influence in the psychological preparation of the

The Devastating Suicide in Bone Essays -- Bone Essays

The Devastating Suicide in Bone        Ã‚   In Bone, by Fae Myenne Ng, the character Ona Leong grows up in a Chinese-American family in San Francisco. Ona shared her home with two sisters that are extreme opposites, a mother who works in sweatshops and a father who works out at sea for long periods. Ona grew up loving every member of her family and each one of them believed that she was on the road to success. But on a day like any other, Ona commits suicide by jumping off of the thirteenth floor of the Nam building. Without any warning of her unhappiness, the family finds themselves only being able to guess as to why she would do such a thing. How did Ona express her unhappiness? And how does Ona's choice of suicide affect loved ones?    Suicide often follows depression, proving false the stereotype of depression being only general sadness. Depression can be anything from temporary to extreme, and from insignificant to greatly significant. What significant might be characterized as could be the outcome of a loss of ones life. In a case where a woman's husband committed suicide, the woman later said, "'He was like anybody else with depression. But it was much more extreme than he ever let us know'" (Robinson, R. 33). However, Ona Leong appeared no different up to the day that she jumped; never even appearing depressed. Throughout the novel, the impact of suicide is seen from within the home, leading back to early childhood.    When thinking back, every detail of a person's life can be thought of as being a clue to the mystery of suicide. After Ona's death, both mother and sister alike, ask themselves, "What could have saved Ona?... If I'd been living [at home with Ona] on the Alley, could I have had that talk with... ...the case of leaving a suicide note, can sometimes only explain so much, but actions do in fact speak louder. Taking your own life, in the case of Ona wanting to make a point, could quite possibly be the loudest action there is, an action impossible to ignore.    Works Cited: Robinson, Rita. Who is More to Blame for the Murder of King Duncan?

In William Shakespeare’s Macbeth, the tragic hero or the great and virtuous character, Macbeth is destined for downfall as he brings suffering and defeat upon himself. However, this statement can be widely debatable, as many would assume that Lady Macbeth also plays an immense role in the murder of Duncan, the beginning of the tragedy. Early in the play, Macbeth encounters three witches or supernatural beings that foretell his future as the new King of Scotland. Intrigued by their prophecies, Macbeth places faith in their words.Macbeth’s wife, Lady Macbeth, is instrumental in his ambition, manipulating him, as they both scheme for greatness. Driven by the will to become King, Macbeth commits the murder of the current King Duncan and continuously murders those that suspect him.He is led to his own destruction as Macduff, a Scottish noble, later kills him. Moreover, although both Macbeth and Lady Macbeth can be considered guilty for the downfall of Macbeth or the tragedy of the play, Macbeth is more to blame as a result of his ruthlessness, his ambitious desires, and his naà ¯ve character, which allow him to betray his own conscience.Macbeth’s ambitious character and his insatiable lust for power drives him to change his nature towards evil commencing his tragic downfall. Upon hearing the prophecies of the witches, Macbeth immediately ponders about the predictions and creates an idea to murder the King. Macbeth states that the image of Duncan, the current King’s death â€Å"doth unfix my hair† (I. ii. 148) meaning that this image was too horrid to even imagine. Early in the play, the witches only predicted that he would become King but it was Macbeth’s ambitious character that takes it to the next step as he now thrives on the will to become King.Although the King’s death was never mentioned in the prophecies, Macbeth plants the idea in his head that the only way for him to become King, as the predictions stated w as to kill Duncan, which creates and displays his lust for power. Macbeth also mentions, â€Å"let not light see my black and deep desires† (I. iv. 58). This is another example in which he now admits this dark character inside him, demonstrating that his valiant, brave character displayed in the beginning of the play is slowly fading away or deteriorating as his ambitious character takes over.Furthermore, by virtue of his honest character, Macbeth admits to himself of his â€Å"vaulting ambition† as he states, â€Å"I have no spur to prick the sides of my intent, but only vaulting ambition, which o’er leaps itself. † (I. vii. 25-27) These lines portray that Macbeth has no other reason to kill Duncan except for his strong desires of wanting to become King. Macbeth’s character as ambitious appears again as even to the eyes of his wife, is seen clearly as lustful for power. Lady Macbeth states â€Å"art not without ambition† proclaiming of his ambitious character.Macbeth’s ambitions is the root cause of his tragic downfall as his lust for power drives him to murder which is the misdeed that places his life at risk and begins his fall from glory. Macbeth as a man with solid morals and a well-established conscience allows himself to be manipulated by other significant characters of the play such as the witches and Lady Macbeth. The witches make two significant appearances in the play, each in which they use equivocation to confuse and manipulate or spark the characters in the play to lead a life of evil.Their first appearance was in front of Banquo and Macbeth in which they praise him as they predict his future as the next King. They know that by calling him â€Å"King hereafter† (i. iii. 53) that it will create desires in his heart and they use these quick phrases or these words placed in paradox to manipulate Macbeth to do something that would earn him that title. Macbeth who has a conscience of his own, all ows himself to create unwanted desires in his heart knowing well that patience is an attribute that only the noble obtain.Macbeth, by the end of his first soliloquy, makes the final decision to not murder the King because in his point of view, â€Å"Duncan both born his faculties so meek† (i. vii. 16-17) and it would be injustice to kill a righteous person but later on changes his mind as he allows his conscience to be moved again by his wife, Lady Macbeth who questions his manhood to achieve the power that they would get if they kill Duncan. She states â€Å"If you durst do it, then you were a man† (i. vii. 56-57) as she tries to convince her husband to go along with Duncan’s murder.Foolishly, Macbeth allows her to change his mind when he could have easily refused proving that he had a mind of his own. The witches near the end of the play manipulate Macbeth once more, but this time it was Macbeth who sought their help therefore getting himself into more trouble . A wise person would make the right decision not to ask the troublesome witches for help, but in Macbeth’s case, he deals with this situation differently as he is again easily manipulated into developing hubris, which leads to his downfall and his tragic ending. Therefore, although Macbeth had a conscience of his own and had the right to make his own decisions, he allowed himself to be manipulated by others, which eventually leads to his own death. Macbeth makes further errors in judgment following his misdeed of killing Duncan as he commits other major crimes, which all precipitate his downfall. For example, the murder of his friend, Banquo. Acting completely on his fear that Banquo’s sons will become King and himself remaining unrecognized, Macbeth decides to kill both Banquo and his son, Fleance.Macbeth knew that he was under suspicion for Duncan’s murder therefore concludes with these two reasons to kill an innocent man and his son. This is proven through Ma cbeth’s statement made in Act 3. Scene 2. Lines 41-42. Macbeth establishes his fear as he says that he is â€Å"full of scorpions in his mind†. Therefore, this murder was another factor or crime that leads him directly to his downfall. Another crime that Macbeth commits that is unforgivable was when he murdered a mother and a child. To take advantage of the situation, Macbeth kills Macduff’s family, which was a tragic scene as Macduff’s son dies creating pathos in the audience’s heart and depicts Macbeth’s character as mad or insane. These murders portray his downfall as extreme for all the serious sins Macbeth has committed. Macbeth’s desire for power, his ignorance towards his own conscience, and the further crimes he commits portray him as more to blame over Lady Macbeth for his own downfall and death.Throughout the whole play, although Lady Macbeth may seem as the masculine character and the brain behind the murder of Duncan, she p lays a minor part in Macbeth’s own desires and the further crimes he independently commits that end in his downfall. Lady Macbeth is a significant character but is not more to blame for every tragic hero brings his fate upon himself. Therefore to conclude, Macbeth is more to blame for his own defeat and suffering.
